Dressing well doesn’t have to be complicated.
If you know what you’re doing, it also doesn’t have to be time consuming or expensive.
People will respond to you based on their perception of you. That’s why it’s worth paying attention to how you look.
Here are 6 steps to improve your style effortlessly.
Set Your Goal
People will accept whatever you project. You’re in charge of that.
What do you want people to think of you before you even say anything?
Always begin with the end in mind.
Find Your Role Models
You don’t need to reinvent the wheel.
Identify who’s already attracting the type of people you want in your life. Observe how they dress and figure out a way to make it your own.
Audit Your Closet
Now that you know what kind of image you’re working towards, look at what you currently have.
Does your current wardrobe support your goals?
There might be things that you own that you can still use.
Identify those items and put them in 3 separate piles. Figure out what you’re going to keep, alter and eliminate.
I can’t stress this enough. You have to know what you’re going to be shopping for. Having a list of clothing items that you need keeps you focused.
If you don’t do this, you’ll end up with bags of items you didn’t need and going over your budget.
Another list you should make are your basic measurements. Figure out your neck size, chest size, waist size and shoe size.
Shop With Intention
The preparation you did ahead of time is finally going to pay off. You know what clothing items you’re looking for and you know your size.
Buy only what you need and nothing else. Build your wardrobe incrementally. You can always go back later.
Once you find stores that you like, stick to them. Shopping doesn’t have to be such a chore.
Prepare Your Outfits
Failing to plan is planning to fail.
If dressing well doesn’t come naturally to you, you need to plan your outfits ahead of time.
Think of your lifestyle. Figure out what you’re going to do every day of the week and plan your outfits accordingly.
The key is to build a lean wardrobe with only the essential things you need. Ideally, every clothing piece that you own can be worn interchangeably.
