Didn’t win the genetic lottery?
I know how you feel.
In fact, kids back in high school used to make fun of me. I was short, fat and average-looking at best.
So if you weren’t blessed with great genes like me, what do you do?
In life, there are things that you can and can’t control. The best thing you can do is to put all your energy towards things that you can do something about.
Building a great physique is the most underrated secret to make yourself more attractive.
When you know that you’ve set a goal and you were able to achieve it, it gives you reference experiences to do the same thing in other areas of your life.
Besides the obvious health benefits of working out, it’s how it improves the way you see yourself that makes all the difference.
Taking care of your health is the cheapest investment you can make which can have dramatic results in your social life.
Here are my best tips to help you get started.
Start With Why
Dig deep and find out the emotional reason why you want to achieve your fitness goals.
What would losing fat and gaining more muscle mean to you?
Motivation that comes from within is much more powerful. It’s what keeps you going when things get tough.
Whichever plan you choose, make sure you focus on big, compound movements like squats, bench press and deadlifts.
Since these movements involve multiple muscles, it’s the most efficient use of your time at the gym.
If you’re really serious about getting fit, hire a competent personal trainer to show you how to get started.
Muscles grow when they’re continually being challenged. Whether it’s an extra set, one more rep or adding 5 lbs to the bar, make sure you’re progressing in small increments.
Learn to love the process, and the most important part is the process. Keep showing up and the results are inevitable.
Eat At Home
No matter how hard you may try, you can’t outwork a bad diet. What you put in your body is just as important as how you train.
Figure out the types of food you like to eat and find a healthier alternative. Eating better doesn’t have to be bland with a little bit of creativity.
Choose natural whole foods more often. If it comes in a box, don’t eat it.
Celebrate Your Wins
It’s easy to feel discouraged especially if you’re far from your fitness goal. The worst thing you can do is to compare yourself to other people. That’s a sure-fire way to kill your confidence.
Celebrate your progress no matter how small. The only person you should be comparing yourself with is who you were the day before.
